Cannonball Bike Run Postponed
We were busy packing our party hats and charging our nitrous bottles for the Cannonball Bike Run, but then found out it's been postponed until September 13. Keep an eye on www.cannonballbikerun.com for the latest updates.
Power Troopers
Believe it or not, we're not out pulling wheelies and hanging with models all month-most of the time we're stuck behind the screen plucking away like chickens. With this much computer time, we check on a good number of forums and discussion boards, and in the course of my perusals, a moderator with something up his ass has managed to push me over the edge. With our upcoming road test of the GSX-R1000 (next issue), we went to www.gixxer.com to get some feedback from owners of the new model, and the thread was deleted three times because of an "advertising" violation. The situation became laughable really, and even after several explanations to the fascist moderators the request never really saw the light of day. It's Gixxer.com's error in the end, because ultimately its members are the ones who were screwed in the scenario. Though the ordeal was mildly amusing, it sucks that the members didn't get the chance to be in the mag just because the moderators are dicks. Get a life. And the same goes for the park ranger who kicked us out of "his" park during the Hellion shoot (page 38). Not only did this clown write up the owner with a handful of tickets, but he did it after strapping his nightstick on. I guess the cameras, studio lights and sun reflectors were a pretty menacing sight. Regardless, we hope you enjoy our unique cover bike, and though it isn't a traditional stretched and slammed sportbike, it has some other incredible aspects that truly make it a super streetbike. -Dave
Calling All Speed Freaks
SSB Hosts Maxton Top Speed Shootout in September SSB will be back out at the Maxton Monster Mile in Maxton, North Carolina, this September 22-23 for our second-annual Top Speed Shootout, where we'll crown the fastest streetbikes in America. Organized in conjunction with the East Coast Timing Association, the Top Speed Shootout will put bikes in six separate classes against each other to see who has the fastest top speed posted on Maxton's standing start, one-mile course. Bikes will be eligible to race in six classes: 600cc all motor; 600cc plus one power adder (nitrous, turbo or supercharger); 1000cc all motor; 1000cc plus one power adder; unlimited cc all-motor; and unlimited cc plus one power adder. To encourage the hot-rodding spirit, rules will be virtually "anything goes." The class displacements refer to the engine cases only-if you can get 800cc out of a 600 motor and keep it together, you're eligible for the 600cc class. In addition to the six classes, there will also be a target mph contest with an award going to the rider who breaks the timing beam closest to 150.000 mph, making virtually anyone with a sportbike able to get involved. Winners will each receive an "ECTA/Super Streetbike Fastest Streetbike in America" riding jacket and, of course, the undeniable bragging rights that go along with owning one of the indisputably fastest bikes in the country. More prizes will be announced as the date draws nearer. Keep watching this space for more information, or log on to www.ecta-lsr.com to view the complete Top Speed Shootout rules and find out everything you need to get started building your bike up to win this event. See you in September.
SSB Wants You!
Do you love sportbikes and know the scene? If so, we might have a spot for you @ Super Streetbike as Associate Editor. Send your resume to david.sonsky@primedia.com. Your dream job awaits...
Where are they now?
The first issue of Super Streetbike in 2003 saw Dan Jackson on the cover, wearing some seriously white socks. These days Dan is still at it, despite having broken his femur in 2005 while filming his second video, A Few Loose Screws 2. He's now an Alpinestars-sponsored rider and recently won Stunt Wars-the biggest event in the freestyle community.
Model Search
Super Streetbike is looking for models in the Los Angeles, CA, and Tampa, FL, areas to model for an upcoming issue. If you're interested please send a photo and contact info tossbmail@primedia.com
What would YOU DO with this bike and $1,000 for a weekend?

Chris Denison: "If someone gave me this ride and $1,000, the first thing I would do is ride to the bank and turn the Benjis into a thousand $1 bills. Then I would proceed straight to South Beach and do wheelies up and down the strip, tossing $980 worth of ones into the air like confetti. With the remaining $20 I would buy a good, sturdy Louisville Slugger to keep the chicks away."
Joe Neric: "I'd put it in my truck and haul it to Vegas baby, Vegas! Then I'd unload it and roll up to the Palms like a pimp, slap down the grand on some dice, and when I won I'd be rolling knee-deep in ladies! I guess I could be a nice guy and buy the SSB editors a pint too."
Next Month: It's the stock 2007 ZX-6, so send your 75-word reply and a pic to ssbmail@primedia.com.
Not Hot: Billet Grips The majority of readers don't agree with shiny grips over performance types. Pete Wilkinson told us, "I purchased a pair and after 15 minutes gave them to my neighbor for his Harley-he hated them as well. They are now highway pegs on his hog!"
Handstand Burnout
One of the latest stunts in the freestyle world is doing a handstand next to the bike while the tire is smoking away on a throttle lock. Is it a sick trick or does the rider just look like a dick? Tell us at ssbmail@primedia.com
Must-Have Videos
Rock the 40oz
Part Two Chris Fisher from Brokenbone Productions has given the aging stunt video market a fresh, new look and feel. Rock the 40oz Part Two features riders Nick Brocha, Darius Khashabi, Shamil, Artiom, Team-Midmoto, Fish, Scott Chychul, Team Outermost and many others. The video captures the difficulty of their riding while still allowing the general public some enjoyment. Fast-paced and in your face, the footage is a nice collection of competitions, shows, "spots" and street riding with professional editing. Mixed in is a series of B-roll shots that help break up the action with an artistic feel. Rock the 40oz Part Two is a great video for any stunt fan wanting to own the latest and greatest on the market. www.impactvideo.com Cinematography:Music:Lifestyle:Rider Or Enthusiast: Rider
Uptown
Uptown features up-and-coming riders from the Southern California area doing a variety of wheelies, stoppies and burnouts throughout various locations. The footage has a Las Vegas Extremes classic feel (does that mean it sucks? -Ed.) to it and features lots of handheld camera scenes shot on the side of the road or from a car. Monster truck shows, girls in bikinis and cracked-out go-cart riders help offer relief to the continuous stunts. We had to raise the B.S. flag on Super Streetbike's Bike Night Out section, which featured some poor editing that added riders who weren't even at the show. Otherwise, Uptown is a decent video that might keep the average viewer's attention span through most of the video. www.impactvideo.com Cinematography:Music:Lifestyle: Rider Or Enthusiast: Rider
Haggard
Before MTV's Jackass, Viva La Bam and the growth in popularity of self-mutilation, Bam Margera made a movie called Haggard. Featuring the cast of Viva La Bam, the story follows Ryan Dunn's breakup with his long-term girlfriend. His self-destruction, heartbreak and anguish are easily recognizable to anyone who has ever been dumped by a girl for another guy. Haggard is a classic filled with tons of memorable one-liners mixed in with random scenes of absolute nonsense. After watching, you are left with a feeling of bewilderment and uncertainty. Only as time passes and you desire a rhino tattoo like Hell Boy who works at the bowling alley and smells of beer do you realize just how much impact on your life Haggard has had. This is a definite must-have for fans of cult videos. www.bamargera.com Cinematography: Cult Classicness:Story:Rental Or Buy: Buy
