Some Bikes Are Destined To Be Classics And We Know Getting Rid Of Them Would Be A Huge Mistake. Such Is The Case With This Ever Evolving GSX-R1000
Psychochrome has been turning out unique customs since it opened its doors in 2004. But owner Gonzalo Polanco has been working on his own GSX-R1000 ever since he bought it new in 2002. The bike is a constant work in progress. Polanco explained the continued upgrades, "The Gixxer changes every two years. As time passed, I've tried to do little things to the bike to keep it up to date.
As bike builders, we are always looking at each other's work. Everyone is always busting his ass to build the new bikes and we don't try to keep old bikes around. I always looked at the Gixxer like having an old hot rod in your garage though."
In a market where what's hot today is not tomorrow, Polanco's aging beauty has managed to stay fresh. A nip here and a tuck there have prolonged its lifespan as a crowd pleaser. "It's not like I can sell it-everyone loves this bike. It keeps bringing in the customers. It must have paid for itself five times over by now.
It's like an old hoodrat-they need love too. I have to hold on to my oldie but goodie!"
