Cruising on a stretched custom sportbike is an experience that can only be fully appreciated by doing so. As the heads turn and jaws drop all the hard earned dollars and hours of blood, sweat and tears finally seem all worth it.
Jim Corby, a marble contractor from Miami, knows about working and playing hard. He loves fast cars and owns a total of 13 bikes-mostly Harleys. "I've been riding since I was 16. I gave it up to raise kids and put them through school. A few years ago, I got the bug again though. Now I own and restore a lot of older bikes, mostly Panheads.
I kept going down to bike week and seeing all these stretched out sportbikes though and basically had to have one."
Finally Corby crossed the HD picket lines and went out and purchased a 2008 Hayabusa, which then went straight to Roaring Toyz for some modding magic. They gave the bike the full shop treatment and bolted on as many accessories as they could produce.
The 'Busa is a rolling testament of what is possible while on a budget. It's a comfortable ride with a 14-inch-over swingarm and a properly set up rear suspension to handle the extra weight and travel of the 300mm rear wheel.
Corby's cruiser buddies were a bit concerned when they heard he was buying a sportbike, but were not all too surprised. "I spend my money real hard and live life the same way. It's all about living life to the fullest. I'm basically a 51 year old stuck in a 25 year old's body!"
