The life of a sportbike is as varied as the owners it follows. From the day it rolls off the showroom floor to the day it is parted out and sold on eBay, the path it takes can often tell a story. Dillon Pool's SRAD started off life as a shiny new race replica that revolutionized the sportbike world in 1998. Over the years it ended up in the hands of a customer who bought it, rode it, raced it and started to customize it. "I built the bike for a customer of mine who needed money. I bought it from him and told him I would take it to a higher level. Now, it's my baby."
Back in the days before liter bikes were the size of 600s, a common practice was to shoehorn a bigger motor in a smaller frame. "The bike is a 750 with a 1000 motor in it. I've always like the SRAD body style and wanted to do something else besides a 'Busa. I wanted do something with cool curvy bodywork."
The GSX-R has suffered through numerous different paint jobs, swingarms and bits of bling to showcase the work that Pool's shop, Aggressive Edge, is capable of. "I use it to show the quality of my work. I want to be able show people what new things we came up with. It's my conversation and showpiece- my credentials."
While a snap shot of the bike has been captured, the story of this bike is far from over as it continues to evolve with updates.
