Craig tooled around on the bike a couple of times, but just couldn't get to grips with the low clip-ons and decided that the 'bars along with the fairing would have to go.
The original Dynomite billet aluminum top triple was modified to accept bolt-on clamps for the Renthal 'bars and the refaced R1 instrument cluster was located to the underside of the top triple with a neat steel bracket. Longer brake lines were also necessary to connect the twin PVM six-piston brake calipers to the larger-than-R1 master cylinder that Craig fitted with a smaller reservoir. With the fairing now AWOL, Craig fitted a stainless steel grill to the previously concealed radiator along with large diameter stainless steel braided hoses and a Budweiser expansion tank made from the Barbie water bottle that his daughter is still looking for.
With a few tasteful and performance enhancing accessories such as the Pazzo levers and the Translogic quickshifter, in addition to all of the mods already mentioned, Craig has added to the appeal of the original Dynomite converted R1 without overwhelming the basic format of the bike's high quality components. Sometimes it's not what you put on a bike that makes the difference-it's what you leave off.
