Little Gracie Workman had a rough time early on in life. At birth she weighed just under two pounds, and it's a miracle she's still with us today. Now at seven years old, Gracie leads a normal life and is your typical sprightly young lass. Without help from the March of Dimes things may not have ended up so well though, and her dad, Randy, has found a way to say thanks to all those who helped his daughter pull through.
The most important custom bike to ever roll out of Street Bike Designs has a lot more significance than simply satisfying a customer's order. Instead, all proceeds from the bike's auction will be paid to the March of Dimes in an effort to help other families who have found themselves in similar situations.
Most bike builders claim it's the passion that drives them, but for Randy this particular bike is a testament to the times of turmoil his family endured while his daughter fought for her life: "Gracie is my princess, my angel. She had a 13 percent chance of survival. They told us in the hospital that she could have mental problems. Now she's seven years old, top of her class and sharp as a tack."
"The March of Dimes was instrumental in the development of a drug that is used to develop a premature baby's lungs. The March of Dimes is dear to my heart, so I'm donating the R1's proceeds in honor of my daughter."
The winner of this ride gets more than piece of mind and proof of a big heart. After all, it is a pretty sick display of aftermarket tuning. With a nitrous bottle housed in a C&S Custom Cycles swingarm, a Hi-Lo air ride system, RC Components wheels and Performance Machine brakes as the key features, it's bound to turn heads. More unique parts grab the eye after the classy tribal paint too, and one in particular is the glowing Gator Glass bodywork.
The mod list runs as deep as its builder's desire to give something back to those who gave his daughter a fighting chance.
President Franklin Roosevelt established the March of Dimes in 1938 to help save America's youth from polio, on the premise that people can solve any problem if they work together. By creating a partnership of volunteers and researchers, the Salk vaccine was developed and polio was eradicated.
