Just because you call the mountains of West Virginia your home doesn't mean you'd prefer a jug of moonshine over a nice custom sportbike. Motorcycles have been a staple in the Jefferies family for years, going back to papa's days of racing motocross, so naturally his daughter, Keisha Jo, would be intrigued. She first encountered the fantastic world of two wheelers through her dad and has been hooked ever since. Now, at age 20 and in college, you'd probably expect she would have grown out of her curiosity for motorcycling. But in fact, her desire to cruise the streets solo has only magnified over the years.
Her father, Jim, decided the time was right for her to rock her own ride so he purchased her a brand spankin' new R6. He explained his purchasing procedure: "I knew she was capable of riding a sportbike, but a liter bike would have been too much. The 600 seemed just right for her so we got one new and then started working on the build as part of her birthday present."
Forget about a new convertible as the ultimate birthday gift to take along to college; Keisha Jo instead wanted a custom sportbike built to her specs. Working with Street Bike Designs, the father/daughter duo got to tuning up the stock R6 and came out the other side with a ride just right for daddy's little girl. A twelve-over stretched C&S Custom swingarm is jackshafted to a 240 rear and adds an even more aggressive angle to the already sinister lines of the stock bike. Performance Machine's contrast cut wheels offer an extra dimension to the unique R6 as well.
A GYTR slip-on pipe gives some growl and a Power Commander keeps it flowing true, while additional bolt-ons like Vortex rearsets and case covers increase the size of the modded parts pile.
Sharp and angular paintwork was applied by Gator Customs and a custom embroidered seat added the final touch.
The next time you spot a sick custom parked don't assume who the rider is. After all, it might happen to be one lucky lady's ride to class instead of a baller's bike night blaster.
