Building a custom bike is no easy task. You must have the insight for the proper plan of attack, the wherewithal to make it happen and finally the expertise to see it through to the end. And that's the exact combo, Greg Mro, a professional chef and the owner of this 2004 ZX-10R, did in creating this one-off boss.
"I am the original owner and it was one of my first customs. Unfortunately it was wrecked awhile back and in the process of rebuilding the bike it was sold to Greg," Felix Nguyen, owner of Tek 9 cycles said.
Since Nguyen has been in the game for sometime he knew what questions needed to be asked before spinning a wrench. After understanding that Greg wished the bike to be as fast as it is dope, the decision to run a Roaring Toyz 240 kit with a six-over stretch was made easy.
"Greg wanted something that could keep up with other bikes but still look good, so we kept the tire and stretch in check," Nguyen said.
Although this is Greg's first custom, he'd already been a fan of the East Coast style stretchers he'd seen on TV. When he finally got the chance to build his own he pulled out all the stops in search of a custom that would put it down on the West Coast. Beyond the RT rear arm, a Hi-Lo Air Ride kit and RC Components rollers were called into play along with a Roaring Toyz exhaust, candy chrome forks and Vortex rearsets and levers.
When it came time to blanket the empty canvas with life, Greg wanted to pay respect to his Italian heritage with a mobbed-out theme. After two-weeks in the booth, Gordon from Tek 9 Cycles emerged with the unique design; in it you'll find the likes of Tony Montana and the Godfather.
In just a few short weeks Greg went from wanting a custom to owning his own. While one might think custom bikes and gourmet food have little in common, this bike is rolling proof that when two unlikely interests are joined in the pursuit of perfection, the results are pretty tasty.
