The bling is unseen on Floyd Wright's tight CBR, and that's just the way he wanted it. He's already done the "murdered out" thing before, and to him it's played out anyways. Instead, he created his own version of the ideal custom bike that borrows (just a bit) from both the race and the bling scene.
At first glance, the striking gold Marchesini wheels are a contrast to the otherwise subtle motif from front to back, but upon closer inspection his creativity exerts its energy. Gold banjo bolts and levers were the tools he used to create symmetry and accents without overpowering the overall look and ruining his vision. "I like the style of the spikes and some of the aftermarket parts, but if they were chromed they would distract the eye from the bike as a whole. If everything was totally blacked out there'd be no contrast," Floyd explained.
Similar to the exterior, there are more mods in the motor that aren't obvious-or even detectable. Aftermarket cams and a Bazzaz Z-Bomb work with a Two Brothers Juice Box and Taylor Made exhaust to liven the CBR's pace. Naturally, the electronics are tucked away, but even the exhaust is only faintly noticeable as it hides behind a blanket of carbon fiber.
It's almost hard to believe that Floyd's a Florida boy, as this bike is the antithesis of most stretched custom rides 'round them parts. And that's the underlying motivation; create a bike that prefers to lurk in the shadows rather than lust after the limelight.
