Maverick, you are cleared to buzz the tower, but first put on some gloves.
Until bike builder Peter Ojanpera entered the scene, it was nearly impossible to find a low, wide and stretched custom sportbike in Scandinavia. But then Peter created the USAF Kawasaki ZX-10R custom. The Kawasaki is only his sequel build and already racking up accolades, claiming a third place finish in one of Sweden’s largest exhibitions along with a first place at the Scandinavian Custom Show.
With an old arm injury preventing him from rekindling his motocross roots, Peter traded his MX bike for a 2006 ZX-10R that had been retired from racing. The machine was already fitted with Vortex clip-ons, PP Tuning footpegs and Grevens MC-Delar carbon fiber engine covers, giving him the ideal platform for an encore build.

Day or night, the 4” x 3” dash display picks up whoever is coming up on the six. Be warned, tailgaters.
The mirrors were replaced with a rear view camera display located left of the speedo. Air-ride suspension operated by electric pistons and a remote control allowed Peter to lower and raise the bike while standing to the side at shows.
A car painter by trade, Peter was specific in his desire to give this home-built custom a tough, American influenced exterior but decided chrome wouldn’t fit his vision. So Lamborghini Reventon and Rolls Royce titanium metallic color codes were chosen for a stealthier look. “I didn’t want a regular grey. It wasn’t easy to get the color codes, but after some research, it was perfect,” said Peter. The bike was also fitted with Pro Bolt blue anodized bolts and Angel Eyes’ headlights, which provide a luminescent contrast over the super matte finish.

The exterior theme was the easy part. Peter found his nemesis with the rear end. Only after visiting three different shops was he able to fit the wide Metzeler 300 rear tire to the 10.5’’ x 18’’ rim. Those who think this bike isn’t functional with a homebuilt six-over single-sided arm and wide rear tire should note this ZX-10R is Peter’s daily driver. He did admit, “The bike is impossible to wheelie, it just burns out. But it turns quite quickly.” Under the radar looks on a far from average package was enough to take the local scene by storm and undoubtedly inspire a new crop of custom builders.
