Reader Rants And Even An Occasional Kind Word.

Next time we'll throw mud on it.
Jumping The GunAs usual you talk a good fight, but next time you feature a so-called "daily rider custom" such as the 300-hp street sleeper GSX-R1000 ["Bike Night Blaster"-Dec 2007], try putting some real miles on it first, instead of showing us (the paying public) pics of brand-new tires, brakes, Ohlins forks, etc. Sure we are dumb, but I know that we are not that dumb!

Sounds like you've got an itchy trigger finger there, Tex. First, the "new brakes" have worn rotors. And since when did cleaning a bike up for a shoot (by replacing the worn-out shoes with a new set of rubbers) indicate that the bike hasn't been ridden hard and put away wet?
Hey Jealousy
I really enjoy your magazine but as a female rider I get tired of flipping pages to see half-naked models sitting on motorcycles that they probably can't even ride. Can we just get fewer models and more motorcycles?L C Jones

No.

Rau's 'Busa rocks.
For a Fallen Friend
Curtis A. Rau was a good friend of ours. We designed this bike to represent his personality. We incorporated fire, skulls and demons along with Lady Justice on the tail section to show how proud he was of being a criminal lawyer. This bike was his pride and joy. One of his dreams was to have his bike in a magazine but he did not have a chance to see his wish come true. In loving memory of Curtis A. Rau from all your friends and family. We will never forget you. 1969-2007.

I want to know how to get a bike on the cover or in your magazine.

Step 1: Buy a bike. Step 2: Spend lots of cash and make it totally sick (originality helps too). Step 3: send pics to ssbmail@sourceinterlink.comSee Richard, it's almost too easy.
School Daze
You guys rock my socks. SSB is my inspiration and my Bible. I've been trying to go to school to be a bike mechanic for a while but have run into many obstacles-primarily, a lack of money. I really wanted to go to AMI in Daytona but they are way expensive, so I was wondering if you guys had a scholarship program or sumtin' like that. If not that's cool, you guys have not discouraged me! I'm never givin' up! If you dream long and hard enough it's bound to happen.
Love ya!
Brandee
No handouts here, but we're stoked that you want to get into the biz. While we don't have a scholarship program, every major motorcycle school offers financial aid. You've definitely got the right attitude and drive-best of luck!
Frankenstein Almost Lives
I'm trying to find an ATV frame that will support a 1000 or 1300cc engine. I want to achieve a top-half look of a sportbike and a bottom-half look of an ATV. I've seen pics of one. I'm having trouble
finding 50-inch A-arms so that it is street legal. One company has designed a concept version. It still doesn't have the look that I'm going for. I'm looking for any info that would help.Phillip E. Alexander

It seems like you're talking about two different street-quad-bike things. Tricked Out Custom Cycles has a sweet ride that pretty wickedly blends the styles you're looking for. GG Quad North America has a sweet road-going 1130cc quad. Give 'em a look and bite their style...or get crazy and build your own custom.
Future Feature?
I have a 2007 Gixxer 1000 and would like to know if I could fit a 240 rear tire by just installing extensions or do I have to get the whole swingarm kit?Cedric Williams Jr.
Mermentau, LA
Extensions will push that rubber back a bit, but won't make the rear any wider. Unless you'll be doing your own chopping and welding to your stock swingarm, you're better off going with an aftermarket piece that is designed to fit your bike.

My husband and I are loyal readers of your mag. Anthony is in the Air Force and will be leaving me for about a year. I could not think of a better gift than to open his favorite magazine and see his two favorite rides inside!Sarah Parrish
