Who are you and what do you do?
We are a custom shop that specializes in sportbikes.
How long have you owned Spyder Racing and what is it?
Spyder Racing was founded in January of 2000. We started off as an import car customization shop and then ventured off into the sportbike scene in early 2002. Now we are one of the largest online distributors of custom aftermarket motorcycle parts in the industry.
How long do you think the custom bike scene will be popular?
We believe the custom sportbike scene is just getting started and a new generation is going to take over and be around for many years to come.
Has it reached its peak?
No, the custom sportbike market has just begun.
What do you think the next trend in custom bikes is going to be?
We hope to see more innovative designs and one-off projects hit the street in the near future. For example, the Spyder Racing Team just came out with an all-new wheel design tailored for the true high rollers. Now not only can you floss on your sportbike, we have rims that will match your car or truck to roll up in style Spyder style!
Run us through a typical day for you.
Life is good. We start the day off by getting the shop running bright and early. Then we work diligently to create and design all-new products for the constantly changing business that we are in. From there, we work to prepare for upcoming events, which usually occur on a monthly basis. A typical day for us starts at 6 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m.
What is the best trick ever performed in a rental car?
We did perform a real neat cone trick in Laguna Seca at the MotoGP. When we saw some cones blocking the way, we didn't go in between them, or around them, but instead decided to drive right through them! Don't try this at home!
What is the best $40 you ever spent?
Fixing the rental car after blowing through the cones.
What's the fastest you've been on two wheels, and what bike was it on?
Blue Fury, our R1 with a double shot of nitrous, at 191 mph!
What are you riding presently?
A fully custom single-sided 2007 R1.
Stock/240/300/360-what's your favorite size and why?
I would have to toss a coin because I really enjoy a couple. If I'm out just cruising, then I prefer the 300. If I'm riding more aggressively, I like the 240 because it looks and feels good without sacrificing that much performance.
What would you do with the last gallon of gas on Earth?
I would write my name on the pavement with it and light it on fire.
You've got the choice of three magic powers: fly like a bird, read peoples' minds, or invisibility. Which would you choose and why?
Magic powers. So I could make some gas appear since I burnt the last gallon writing my name on the pavement.
Person you most admire?
That would have to be my grandfather. He's a true stand-up guy.
What's the achievement you're most proud of?
Spyder Racing. It's a great success!
What would have been your alternate career?
Racing NASCAR, Ricky Bobby style!
Have you ever skinned a rabbit for food?
No, just a gator for a seat cover.
Who's your favorite rider and why?
Valentino Rossi. He is a legend in his time.
Hard alcohol, beer, shots or wine?
Self-explanatory. Just watch our video on spyderracing.com.
What's in the CD player at the moment?
A mix of everything. It has been in there for a while.
If you could have only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pasta. It never goes bad and it always fills you up.
What's your favorite bike of all time?
Yamaha R1. We think it is the best looking and -performing bike on the market today.
