If this passes in Florida, it'll be in your neck of the woods before you can trade your fresh new literbike in for a moped. But bitching about it won't do much. Bust out the laptop and write a letter to your state representative. We did.
The Evel Dead
The end of motorcycle icon and legendary stuntman Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel, Jr's duel with death came on November 30, 2007. Knievel was lost to a three-year bout with lung disease. For over 40 years, he wowed crowds and amazed TV viewers with death-defying leaps in his signature red, white and blue leathers.Evel's amazing feats on the Wide World of Sports garnered national attention and attracted a cult-like following. The true Godfather of extreme sports is known for jumping (and often crashing) at such places as Caesars Palace, the Snake River Canyon and Wembley Stadium.
Without a doubt, Evel Knievel was and always will be the OG of extreme sports. He will be sorely missed.
Dud Of The Month
Dirty Jerzey: Hott Gahbage
Over the past year there's been a great recession of stunt DVDs produced. Dirty Jerzey: Hott Gahbage proves that despite the waning market, street-scene videos are still alive (though just barely). The footage is pure street with lots of stunting and little filler or editing between clips. The music follows suit with an underground rap vibe that matches the footage in both sound and feel.
Notable scenes include what could only be considered a tribute to Smoke from Biker Boyz with a stunt session in a torrential downpour. Night vision captures a glimpse into a drunken folly that shows why wheelies and whisky don't make for a good combo.
For the hardcore rider who wants a no-nonsense video, Dirty Jerzey will entertain-though most viewers may lose interest and tire of the low-budget production rather quickly.
