3rd Annual Maxton

In the 650cc power adder class, it was Jim Toop who won at 173.25 mph on his nitrous-equipped Suzuki GSX-R600. After three years of trying to coax power adder bikes of 650cc ilk to compete, Jim is the first one to ever enter a bike that actually met the power adder rules. So rather than continue to run this class, a third class will instead be added to the unlimited category: Unlimited, Unlimited Nitrous and Unlimited Turbo will be the line up in 2009.

The 650cc naturally aspirated class was faster than ever, and when it was over Jeffery McLean and his KWS Motorsports prepped 2003 Honda CBR600RR took the top spot. Jeff laid his claim to the title at 172.04 mph.

Rounding out the competition in the 150 mph index class was Maxton rookie Chris Moore who took the win with a 151.37 mph pass. He rides a Suzuki Hayabusa but made this pass during his licensing run, which requires riders to demonstrate control of the bike at or near 150.00. Chris eventually made numerous passes in the mid to high 190s, but it was the 151 pass that netted his jacket.

Each class winner received a trick jacket from Speed and Strength along with a custom designed patch showing them as an official winner of the event. If you see a fellow rider sporting a jacket and patch, make sure to show him the respect he deserves.
