From the seat it’s all business. The multifunction gauge pod is high enough to read at a glance, although we’d prefer to swap the tachometer for an analog gauge up top and change the speedometer to digital. Currently, reading the exact speed takes a second or two, and we’d rather have eyes on the road. The gas gauge and clock come in handy for quick updates, especially when commuting. The top mounted mirrors offer a clear view of the road behind, but are just about SUV height and can tag car mirrors when not careful.
Styling is definitely unique but is way better than the awkward teenager looks of the Ninja 650R. Adding a solo seat cowl to the banana seat and removing the gigantic rear passenger pegs would do wonders for the aesthetics and give it a sportier rear end too.
Conclusion
For a first time bike buyer or for the rider looking for a city friendly commuter, the ER-6n is a fantastic choice. The simplistic body design, peppy engine and light handling make for what can only be described as a fun and easy bike to ride. Add in the plentiful amount of aftermarket upgrades and you can have a cool, entry-level streetfighter for much less than a stripped sportbike.
