Make no mistake-you're gonna need your credit card for this one if you plan to follow our lead and go all out. But the beauty of a bolt-on blinger is that the end result can be achieved piece-by-piece without looking misplaced. Each mod can be purchased as your cash or credit permits, and can still stand alone without any awkwardness.
Where a trick new set of brake rotors might not make a lot of sense on an otherwise stock ride, some chrome frame covers or cool levers can pull it off just fine.
Furthermore, these upgrades can be ordered with a simple mouse click. That means no messing with misinformed sales people, custom shops looking to charge for seemingly obscure services or frustrating back-order thumb-twiddling.
Chrome has been the king of mods in the custom sportbike scene since day one. Before fat tire kits and custom wheels were readily available the chrome dip provided a unique way to make your bike sing. Like all cool trends, chroming has taken a backseat to matte and powdercoat finishes lately, but only because some builders are in search of the elusive "next big thing." Chrome will never die though, and on our 2009 Hayabusa we decided to give a salute to the sparkle.
Why the longer than normal...
Why the longer than normal brake line, you ask? When the wheel is extended all the way to the rear of the extensions it'll obviously need some additional line.
There's nothing quite as eye-catching as a fully chromed frame, but few of us have the sort of cash involved for that endeavor, and even less are prepared to tear a bike down to the bare frame. The quick, easy and cost effective solution is a set of chrome frame covers. Initially, the notion seemed a bit silly, but then so did the idea of carbon fiber swingarm and case covers-and they look the business. Not only do the chrome covers install in seconds, but they're a brisk fix for bling appeal.
Continuing with the theme, a gauge bezel from H2O Cycles brightens up the dash. No, it's not going to make your bike faster, but the flash effect from a simple item like this is well worth the cash. The same is true for more dress up bits like Sixty61's spiked windscreen bolts.
Also livening up the dash area are some parts from the original 'Busa bling masters, Roaring Toyz. Chrome switch housings replace the boring black parts, while clever reservoir covers simply mount right over the top of the stock units and eliminate the need to send the originals out for chrome plating. RT's chrome click levers also add some additional sparkle along with function to the hand controls.
Finishing off the visual candy from the rider's seat are multi- colored grips and mirrors that add some bold accents without overpowering the chrome pieces.
