How did you get into the business?
Following some success on Wall Street I wanted to do something that was less hectic (although the money made bad days feel a lot better). Today, we are the largest manufacturer of custom plastics as well as LED-based products around.
Why do you spell Drastik Plastix so funky?
When I first started there was another company with the same name who sold dolls. The guy kept telling me he was getting e-mails for my product. Besides that...it's just to stand out.
How is the East Coast sportbike scene different than the West Coast?
It seems like the West Coast riders are more influenced by either their peers or the local trends and stick to their own. On the East Coast, the individuality level is highly promoted and strongly enforced on the streets. You don't get many look a-likes in New York City. It just doesn't happen.
How do you think your LED kits have affected the industry?
If you look at any custom motorcycle these days you see bling everywhere. Rather than adding the same shiny bolt-on parts that everyone else has, adding an LED kit is truly the best way to get noticed and at the same time add your own style. Compared to other accessories out there, an LED kit offers the biggest bang for your buck.
What is the craziest LED application you've seen?
I was approached by a German sex toy manufacturer who wanted to team up on a few projects. Long story short-we're still in business to this day!
What bike are you working on now?
We are currently collaborating with a celebrity builder on a project called "Prototype." We have been in the R&D phase for the last three years, and now it is finally all coming together. Without going into too many details, I can say that it will be the first bio-sportbike with the most advanced electronic technology out there. Watch out James Bond!
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in life?
Believe nothing that you hear, and only half of what you see!
Why do people press harder on a remote control when they know the battery is dead?
I guess it's the same as seeing a guy wearing sandals on a Hayabusa with pink LED lights-it makes no sense!
