We don't normally pay too much attention to the rumor mongers on the internet, but this caught our eye—some "spy shots" of what looks like a middleweight MV Agusta testing on track at Almeria, as well as some French photos of a cylinder head from a triple (and it's not a Triumph). This, together with various unattributed factory quotes suggests that MV Agusta, impressed with the success of Triumph's 675 Daytona, plans to mimic the layout.
It makes sense. MV Agusta could do with an "entry level" machine to bring in some cash, and a good 675 could easily power a great naked bike as well as the supersport machine.
But our chums at SuperBike Italia tell us not to expect anything soon. One source said: "The MV guys tell me, 'Yes, we are doing the three-cylinder middleweight, but we won't launch it before the end of the 2010.'"
Add in the financial woes of MV Agusta (currently up for sale by owners Harley-Davidson), and the chances of you hammering a MV Agusta 675 up your favorite canyon road any time soon seem pretty remote to us.
