How do you view the American stunt scene?
I see no big difference to the European side. We are still in an underground sport and only a few riders have big time sponsors and can make a living riding professionally. Where do you think the sport is headed, both in Europe and the States?
It has grown quickly, especially over the past two years. A new freestyle spirit has taken over the sport and the innovators are creating new, stylish moves. Old school stunt riding is over— streetbike freestyle is here!
What’s your favorite bike from the past 20 years?
The bike that I ride right now for freestyle, actually—a BMW F800R.
What single bike makes your mouth water?
I’d love to ride any MotoGP bike!
You must chuckle when you see journalists doing amateur power wheelies on their test bikes?
Yes, that’s always funny and makes me smile a bit. There’s a big difference between a rider who pulls a quick wheelie for a photo and somebody who rides a real wheelie for a video clip!
When you’re not working, what’s your day consist of? Coronas and bonfires or treadmills and oatmeal?
There’s a bit of everything: sports, healthy food and certainly beers in the evening. That sounds like a great day, in fact.
Do you ride on the road?
I don’t ride a lot on the road, but sometimes I go for a rip on my S1000RR. Both wheels stay on the ground but I definitely ride too fast.
You probably drive a BMW four-wheeler too, eh?
Of course—a BMW X5 that’s a lot fun to drift in the snow (after I turn off all the electronics.
What’s the weirdest place you’ve ever stunted?
Saudi Arabia. I seriously thought I was going to be arrested by the religious police when I was performing shows.
