While I've never had the wallet to support expensive buying habits I have always tried to maximize my buck. So when the FS-15 Elbowz II came along I got one with a quickness. After all, a Ben Spies replica for under two-fifty is insane.
Comfort and fit with a helmet is always subjective, but this sucker fits like a glove, offers minimal buffeting and is quiet enough for the daily grind. I've worn it in everything from freezing temps to triple digits both on and off the track and it's proven to be a legit lid. The ratcheting mechanism on the shield is top notch, shield replacement is a cinch and the push-button shield lock is great for keeping it closed during high-speed blasts.
Though gripes are minimal, I had an issue with a few of the accessories. The button for the front air vent went missing at some point and the adhesion on the corners of the rear trim don't appear to stick like they once did. However, both are minor complaints and easy fixes with a call to HJC or a trip to the local dealer.
The FS-15 is a great helmet that offers tons of features more akin to a brain bucket twice the price-not to mention it bucks conformity in being an affordable race replica. I'd say it's a definite contender if price is as important as performance.
