When I decided to modernize a 1987 Suzuki GSX-R750, I thought it was only fitting to upgrade the dash instead of reusing the golden oldie gauges. Veypor makes an after-market gauge cluster that can be retrofitted to almost any motorcycle so it made perfect sense.
The VR2 tracks basic functions like RPM, engine temp, odometer, and also captures more detailed information like 1/4-mile and zero-to-sixty times, fuel mileage and tons more. The aluminum housing looks very modern-almost like a racecar gauge cluster-making the VR2 very attractive.
Installation was pretty difficult, as finding a suitable place to mount the magnets on the wheel proved to be quite a challenge. Once operating, the amount of information was a bit overwhelming and I doubt I'll ever use all its capabilities. The speedometer and RPM were what I was mostly after, and those have worked well.
While the VR2 has loads of cool features, I struggled with the installation. Considering that, I'd probably opt for a system utilizing GPS technology for the simplicity and ease of maintenance. But for the price, it would be hard to find something GPS-based that offers all the cool features of the VR2. If you're on a budget but want some intricate datalogging capabilities this would be right up your alley.
