I've never spent much time learning to stunt on a big bike. To be honest, I just couldn't bring myself to thrash any of my streetbikes. But when we got the chance to build a shop stunt bike, I decided it was time to throw on the gear and learn the art of one-wheeled riding. While I've been learning the basics I've crashed on more than a few occasions (and seen a few of Dave's failed drifts bury the bike as well).
Instead of the all-out stunt cage, we decided the minimalistic Race Armor were more up our alley. The Race Armor mounts to the frame using two preexisting holes and runs parallel to the ground. So far they've held up to the abuse of over a dozen crashes without moving an inch. In addition to protecting the expensive bits like the frame, the Rails have also saved our rearsets, clip-ons and levers. And unlike a bulky cage it won't drag during knee-downs and they easily blend in with the bodywork so as not to cramp your style.
If you're in the market for some bike protection and want a little more than frame sliders but don't need a full stunt cage, the Racing 905 Race Armor is the best of both worlds. Just make sure you cover your body with the same amount of protection.
