Without sounding like a public service announcement you need to know that riding without earplugs can cause permanent hearing loss. Riding at freeway speeds can generate wind buffeting as loud as 120 dB-it's like your own personal death metal concert inside your helmet.
Forget the extra few seconds earplugs add to suiting up, I'd rather not have to walk around in my later years with a funnel to my ear yelling, "What is that you say, Sonny?"
While I've tried many off-the-shelf plugs, it wasn't until I discovered the Ear, Inc. earplugs that I found the perfect fit. These silicone silencers were custom made for my ears so I can wear them all day without any discomfort. Sure it felt weird when they popped the silicone in my ears to make them, but it's harmless. The results of the silicone treatment are amazingly comfortable and quiet earplugs that also stay put. Gone are the days of a plug wiggling out mid-ride.
Some might argue they can hear more without plugs, but I've found that I can still hear cars, buses and other road-going opponents just the same and I don't find my eardrums ringing after each ride. Trust me, if you value your hearing and find that standard plugs just don't cut it, you might want to give these a go. After all, what would life be like without the sweet sound of a tuned internal combustion engine? If you ask me, I'd say rather boring.
