Upon reading that Supersprox offers a warranty on its sprockets I figured it was a misprint or some trickery of fine print, but nope-it's the real deal. So how could I go wrong?
The idea behind the Supersprox construction makes perfect sense; an aluminum carrier is connected to steel teeth with is supposed to offer the reduced weight of aluminum alongside the durability of steel. Because this particular sprocket is ten teeth larger than stock it wasn't really fair to weigh them head to head...so I didn't. To be perfectly honest, saving a few ounces on a stunt bike isn't really that critical (as opposed to a drag race application perhaps). What I was most concerned about was tooth wear after thousands of parking lot clutch ups. No problems there, and from the looks of it I doubt I'll need to utilize the warranty because it's pretty much as good as new after six months of use.
The only major complaint I'd point out is that the sprockets only come in one color option. Red and yellow are conspicuous indeed, and maybe that's the reasoning behind the striking scheme, but it limits the applications for those concerned with their style-and who isn't?
