Like most of you reading this, I too was rolling my eyes with skepticism the first time I heard about the Sport Chock. That was until I tried one. Now I’m definitely sippin’ the Kool-Aid.
Simply put, don’t try one unless you plan on buying it because all it takes is one trip and you’ll be hooked. Forget having to load a bike in a truck with two people, and no more trying to straighten the front wheel while awkwardly balancing the bike and securing the straps when solo. Simply roll the bike into the Sport Chock, secure the safety lock and the bike sits upright. From there it’s a simple task of securing both straps and you’re done. The added security of the Sport Chock also means that strap tension can be diminished since the bike securely sits uprightno more bottoming your forks with overly ratcheted tie-downs.
While I’ve never used it to support a bike upright come service time in the garage, you can easily do so, or even store your bike in the upright position to preserve precious garage space.
At a tick over two bills it is fairly pricey, but considering what you get it’s a drop in the bucket. I’ve used ours for well over 1000 miles in all types of weather, and never has loading a bike by myself been so easy. It’s one of the few garage bits all bikers should really have.
