I haven’t knocked out many glove reviews because I tend to stick with what works. When I find gloves that fit just right and have good feel I wear them until they falls apart before ordering an identical replacement pair.
But after scoping the new Ventilator glove in the Alpinestars line I decided to break my stubborn trend and change my routine a little. I have a wide palm and long fingers, so finding gloves to fit properly is usually difficult because the fingers are usually too short or the palm area too wide (or vice versa). I had to up my standard size L to an XXL, but once I did the Ventilator fit just right.
Their name is apt as airflow through the textile/leather combo construction is obvious (particularly in colder weather), and lever and bar feel is excellent. The short cuff doesn’t interfere with jacket sleeves, and because they’re generally small and light compared to full leather gloves, you can fold them up tight enough to stuff in your jeans pocket.
If you’re a fair weather rider who prefers lightweight (almost MX-style) gloves, these will suit you well. I wore them when I typed this in fact, and only had to hit the “delete” button a few times.
