Functional, practical and transformable into a backpack and helmet carrier, the Urban Tank Bag carried my essentials from Mexico to Canada on a bike and to Atlantic Beach Bike Fest in a plane.
The small magnets (located within each corner flap) keep the bag secure except during extremely hard acceleration when heavily loaded, in which case it tends to slide back. In this case the neoprene padding will not completely protect against tank scratching. The lesson? Probably not a good idea to go drag racing with it.
Storage capacity allows a size 12 pair of sneakers, hat, lunch, 17-inch laptop, visor and other small items taken to and from work regularly. It even handled an 18-pound bag of beer grain. When fully loaded the bag is quite large, making it a decent chin rest during long hauls. The top handle is convenient for carrying the bag around when you don’t find it necessary to wear it as a backpack.
I’d like the bag a lot more had it not left marks on my gas tank. It would be a top-tier tank bag if not for this issue. You’d probably be fine if you can control your right hand when it’s loaded to capacity with heavy items, but under the most common circumstances (commuting with a moderate load) it’ll do the trick.
