The turbo Hayabusa project bike we recently finished was loaded to the gills with trick parts—everything aside from the frame was modded or upgraded in some way or another. Yet the first part I point out to most folks during a walk around is the Montgomery Motorsports tank stand. Its simplicity and function are what are so intriguing, and the absolute lack of similar products in the market is a little shocking.
Whether it’s for showing off what you’ve got under the tank or for maintenance projects, keeping the tank lifted up and out of the way is usually the biggest issue. A long screwdriver will work, but the inevitable slip-out can happen at any time and it’s not worth the risk. The tank stand, on the other hand, is tucked out of the way and virtually invisible when being utilized, leaving the work area totally free of any supports.
There’s not much to the device really; it simply mounts on the frame with double-sided tape. A support rail rotates upwards to support the rear of the tank when needed. It installs in seconds and will ultimately save lots of headaches. After hundreds of hours of use it hasn’t failed or come loose. The tank stand will fit all model year Hayabusas.
