While I like to consider myself open to new ideas, when it comes to metal polish I’m as close-minded as they come. I’d been stubbornly using the same stuff for almost ten years, but during a recent polishing expedition I ran out of the old stuff and was forced to try something new—and boy am I thankful I did.
Although the Mother’s Billet Metal Polish is packaged in an unassuming jar that’s easily overlooked at the parts store, it’s what’s inside that counts. That’s because this powerful paste brings back even the haziest of aluminum surfaces. The wheels I was tasked with polishing went from a milky hue to a mirror polish in a little under an hour. This is some good stuff and it doesn’t seem to matter if it’s applied by hand or with a PowerBall because it’ll shine either way.
It’s a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way so the small container will last a lot longer than you’d expect. Lately I’ve started looking for old aluminum parts to polish as a challenge…I wonder how shiny I can make a Coors Light can?
