Motorcycle wheels aren’t easy to get truly clean. Sure, a wipe down with a rag will get the big, flat surfaces tidied up, but what about the crevices between the spokes? In the past I simply gave up on the tight areas because the futility of trying to cram a towel in them was always more frustrating than productive.
Then Justin handed me a Mothers Power Cone, a drill and some spray cleaner. When it comes to car and bike washing I was never really a believer in “tools,” so I was skeptical of the big pink cone. But within about five seconds of jamming it in a wheel recess I knew it was exactly the device for the job.
Technically, the Power Cone is designed to bring a high polish finish back to dull wheels and other polishable metals, but I’m using it simply for its cleaning abilities. I don’t have any polished wheels or parts in my garage to “properly” use the Power Cone, but its saved ten times its price in man-hour labor. I can get a grimy entire wheel as clean and shiny as the day it rolled off the showroom floor in less than five minutes. The cone’s design allows the shape to compress and contour to all of the wheel’s surfaces, so the job is as simple as pulling the trigger and letting it spin for a few seconds, then hose off and dry for a “like new” finish.
