Inevitably at some point you'll need to remove your bodywork. Even if you're not the type to spin a wrench, knowing how to take-off your fairings is a valuable skill. After all, oftentimes the plastics need to be removed during common installs like flushmounts, sliders and while changing your oil/filter.
While removing the maze of plastic tabs, bolts and fasteners can seem a little daunting, if you take your time and handle the pieces with care, the process is easy. In the end, it's simply finding out what order works best and which pieces pop into what. So read on, it's as simple as that.
 1: Starting in a clean work...  1: Starting in a clean work environment you can begin removing the fairings. |  2: We started on the right...  2: We started on the right side by removing this lower Allen- bolt. |  3: This front lower Allen...  3: This front lower Allen bolt will need to be removed as well. |
 4: The Allen bolt in the left...  4: The Allen bolt in the left corner will need to be removed before you can start unbolting the silver panel. |  5: This upper Allen bolt and...  5: This upper Allen bolt and lower pushpin will need to be removed next. |  6: Use a small screwdriver...  6: Use a small screwdriver or the like to push the center of the pin inward, which releases the tabs. |
 7: After the pin is pushed...  7: After the pin is pushed inward, use a flat-blade screwdriver or the like to pullout the pin assembly. |  8: Now remove the upper Allen...  8: Now remove the upper Allen bolt we mentioned in step five. |  9: Moving downward near the...  9: Moving downward near the rear brake pedal, remove the Allen bolt securing the grey plastic trim. |

Careful, this holds the two fairings together. |
