2009 Yamaha R6 Fairing Removal

16: Here's the lower Phillip's head pushpin, remove it as well.

17: A close-up of the aforementioned pushpin.

18: There's another pushpin located under the air intake up front.

19: Another pushpin will need to be removed on the right side. This one is located near the air duct.

20: As with the other side, you'll need to remove the two Allen bolts as well as the pushpin.

21: Again, like the other side you'll need to remove the Allen bolt located on the lower end of the grey panel.

22: Moving underneath the bike you'll find these two Allen bolts as well...remove them.

23: And the rearmost Allen bolt.

24: You're almost there but don't forget the three pushpins we mentioned for the other side.

25/26: Unplug the blinkers and simply remove the fairings. Note that there's a locking device at the bottom of the fairings to hold them together. Carefully unhinge the tabs and they'll break free.

27: Start reinstalling the fairings by snapping the silver trim into its tabs. This allows the fairings to hang freely, making installation easier. Note: We found it easier to install the right side first.

28: Next, reinstall the three pushpins on the right side of the inner fairing as well as the upper center one under the air intake.

29: Don't forget the two Allen bolts and the pushpin.

30: You've got one lower Allen on the right.

31: Now clip the upper grey trim on the left side into the appropriate tabs.

32: Up next are the two pushpins on the right-side inner fairing.

33: The third and lower pushpin on the right is next.

34: Don't forget the Allen bolt as well as the pushpin.

35: Secure the rear Allen-bolt and you're almost done.

36: The lower Allen-bolt on the grey trim is up next.

37: Now the two lower Allen-bolts on the left side.

38: Tighten the lower rear Allen bolt and you've only got one more step.

39: The front Allen-bolt is the last step. Before heading out for a ride make sure your oil level is correct, there's no leaks and all of your bolts are securely replaced.
