While it's always tempting to buy cheap gloves, skimping on paw protectors is the last thing you want to do-after all, what usually breaks your fall?
Motocross gloves are great for riding in the dirt, but they're not cutout for hitting the pavement. MX gloves are lightweight and breathable with just enough armor to protect your hands in a dirt spill. However, street gloves have far more padding and leather protection in the palms, fingers and knuckle areas. Where an MX glove might have mesh and thin textile construction, a street glove will have multi-layered leather and other impact resistant inserts. These extra measures are needed since pavement is a lot harder and far more abrasive than dirt.
It's using the wrong tool for the wrong job just to save a buck. After all, you wouldn't use a golf club to hit a baseball.
