SMF Cycles Announces Contingency Payouts for Stunters!
(SMF Cycles Press Release): Beginning with the XDL/US Stunt Riding Championship event slated for Oct. 6-8 at Virginia International Raceway, SMF Cycles (www.smfcycles.com), the North American distributor for Craft Helmets and Barracuda exhausts, will begin paying out contingency money to top-placing stunt riders who are using Craft or Barracuda products. SMF Cycles will pay any qualifying stunter $500 if they place in an approved event with a Craft helmet on their head, and will pay out another $250 if they are using a Barracuda-brand exhaust on their bike.
Chris Schreiber, President of SMF Cycles, says that launching this program is a no-brainer. "The idea here is that stunters win with our products, and also make money because they are using our products," Schreiber explains. "Other companies `sponsor' riders by giving them gear or parts but no money--that only helps the companies, not the riders. Or contingency program will actually put cash money in the rider's pockets."
As of right now, SMF plans to pay contingency money to qualifying riders participating in any XDL-series event, Stuntwars-series event and Starboyz events, with the possibility of more events being added to the list in the future. For up-to-date info, event lists and other details, see the SMF Web site at www.smfcycles.com. Schreiber also says he's trying to convince other companies, parts suppliers and tire manufacturers to step up and launch similar contingency programs to make stunting competition even more lucrative for riders.
"It's a win-win situation for everyone involved," Schreiber says. "It levels the playing field so that the better rider--not the better-sponsored rider--gets more money. If enough companies get involved, potential payouts for riders could grow to ten times what they are now. It also helps small- to medium-sized companies like SMF Cycles support the sport in a way that gets them some meaningful recognition with the top riders and all their fans. If it all works out right, I think you will see street freestyle stunting grow to the size of X-Games over the next few years!"
