The stunt show featuring troy hoff, jamal "j-Beats" kindred, eric whitcomb, and sick nick kicked off the weekend festivities.
For the sixth year in a row, bands of bikers took over the party town of Rosarito Beach, Mexico, located 20 minutes south of San Diego. Club Iggy's has become the official home for Spring Break bikers looking to kick off the motorcycle-riding season, and this event has grown from a small local party at the club to a bash that spills into the streets and includes riders from all over the world.
Event organizer Kris "DJ-GQ" Cottrell was shocked by the wide demographic of attendees: "I never thought Bike Week would get this big. It's hard doing an event of this size, but in the end I was happy with the large turnout of riders. We had guys come all the way from New York, Texas, Arizona, Kansas, New Jersey, Canada and Japan!"
The craziness kicked off with a midday stunt show on an elbow-to-ass-lined street in front of Club Iggy's. The dust-covered cobblestone road proved a bit of a challenge for stunt riders Jamal "J-Beats" Kindred, Sick Nick, Eric Whitcomb and Troy Hoff, and slippery conditions combined with overzealous spectators didn't leave much margin for error and forced the tricks to stay on the safe side.
After the stunt show, the party headed inside the club, where the afternoon was filled with giveaways and competitions. While boobs and butts jiggled like a fat man at Christmas, it was a sub 3-footer that won the sexiest male dance-off.
One lucky contest winner, "Powder," walked away with the grand prize of a $30,000 custom build for his 2007 Suzuki GSX-R600 by C&S Custom and a new paint job courtesy of Rock & Roll Custom Paintworks.
As the sun went down the bikes were traded in for cab rides and the party went until dawn in the capacity-filled club, while Cottrell changed hats from event emcee to club DJ.
This will be the last year that passports will not be required for travel to Mexico, but the media has reported rumors of extending the deadline. Either way, DJ GQ isn't taking any chances. "Next year, I am going to do some research and take a survey to see where people would like this event to take place. It's an event for the people. This event wouldn't be anything without the support of riders who attend and the sponsors that make it happen."
Wherever it ends up we'll be there, and so should you.
