Shaft driven motorcycles are easily identifiable-mainly by their lack of a chain. The idea makes sense and works well for the right application, as a shaft drive is virtually maintenance free and has a long life. They are heavy however, and don't transfer power as effectively as asimple chain drive and therefore aren't generally used on high performance motorcycles.
