In a bold but anticipated move, the AMA has decided to change up the rules for roadracing in 2010.
Not only have the "safety-ensuring" pace cars been axed, but it's also going to start races from a dead stop like in the good old days of 2008. Who would have guessed trying to corral a pack of riders for a rolling start would have been impossible and dangerous?
This year was less than a roaring success on most fronts, but on a positive note the new classes have allowed other brands a chance at winning (though the notion of an 1125cc V-twin against a 600cc four-cylinder seems ridiculous). The class structures will remain the same next year.
We're hoping the 2010 season's return to tradition helps rekindle interest and return AMA roadracing to its former glory-only this time without the Shake and Bake of Nascar, baby.
