We're with Yamaha in thinking that its lackluster FZ-6 needs a bit of a tweak. The R6-based roadster doesn't have a chance against Triumph's Street Triple and it sure could use an overhaul. But we're not sure the Yamaha folks are on the right track here. An 800cc Fazer sounds great until you check the specs and see it's a smaller FZ-1, not a bigger FZ-6.
So, the weight is on par with the literbike, only there's less power. We'll hold our opinion until we ride the thing of course, but we don't think Triumph will be shaking in its boots. We doubt Yamaha US will be bringing the FZ-8 into the country: our market will be fine with the full-bore, bad ass FZ-1.
