Harley-Davidson Buys MV AgustaCappuccino With Your Cheese?Milwaukee-based powerhouse Harley-Davidson recently acquired a 100 percent share of MV Agusta (who also owns the Cagiva brand)-the Italian manufacturer of some of the most exotic sportbikes on the planet. What's that mean to MV and Harley enthusiasts? Can we expect an orange and black World Superbike entry soon? Unlikely.
Harley plans to continue to operate the MV Agusta group from its headquarters based in Varese, Italy, while appointing a new leadership team to drive sales and the overall presence of all the brands. The acquisition is primarily intended to expand Harley-Davidson's presence and footprint in Europe, not to develop any new superbikes.
Sigh ... maybe they'll change their minds.
