Filmed entirely during organized competitions staged last year by Clear Channel Media's eXtreme Stunt Bike Association (XSBA), 110% captures the best action from a full season of contests starring some of the country's best street-freestyle riders, including Thew Blankstrom, Dan Jackson, Chauncy Vieira and Patrick Stephens. The DVD ($19.95) is a complete wrap of the season, even listing the riders in order of how they placed at each event. All the ingredients are there--loud, fast punk-rock music and sharp, clear footage of riders from MotoPsychos, SBFreaks and Core 6 doing their thing, but the stark, sometimes sterile background of the roadrace circuits where XSBA events are staged makes for some vanilla viewing. Without any interplay between teams and riders or much else in the way of spontaneity, 110% almost plays like a how-to video for freestyle riders. Not that there aren't any enjoyable moments--Blankstrom's eighth-mile stoppies are a wonder to watch, and Cory Kufahl and Dan Urban of Wisconsin's D-Aces especially shine, showing why they are one of the most promising, up-and-coming teams in the sport. Just don't expect to see any bootylicious girls or blown-up bikes in this one--it's G-rated. A good one to share with parents and kids.
