This game lets you do it all. Burnouts, power slides, stoppies, wheelies, drifting--if you can do it on a MotoGP bike (OK, if Valentino Rossi can do it on a MotoGP bike!), you can do it in this game. Wannabe racers choose from realistic representations of 16 world-class tracks, and all the biggest bikes and riders from the 2002 MotoGP season, then play in one of three modes: arcade, career or stunt play. An effective online component allows the user to play against other online racers around the world, all of which brings you as close to real racing as possible without leaving your couch. Speedvision's got nothing on this. Compared with the original MotoGP, the second edition offers you more bike setup options (including suspension stiffness and tire selection), more tracks to choose from and much better online support (via Xbox Live for the Xbox and GameSpy for PC users). Many bugs have also been fixed, making it harder to cheat your buddies (that is an improvement, isn't it?). The only downside, for the PC folks at least, is that the game requires a decent dual thumbstick controller to get the most out of the racing action. Also, available stunts are limited to those listed above, so it's not a true stunt mode by today's standards--don't toggle over to stunt-play mode and expect to start busting switchback stoppies. But when you can't get out and satisfy your need for speed in real time, this game just might be the next best thing.
