This isn't to suggest the Riot crew is shackled to their studio mics-this past year they've hit the road to attend some of the biggest street freestyle events, including the Starboyz Stunt Fest, Stuntwars and even a few AMA Superbike rounds. Sometimes they'll hitch up the trailer and take off for visits with stunters on their home turf, as they did with Texan Patrick Stephens last year. "We had Patrick telling us how he did his stunts live while he pulled wheelies in the middle of the street," Bradshaw says.
As Riot's technological know-how develops, there's a chance Riot Radio may broadcast live from some of these venues in the near future. Plans for '05 involve editing past shows into a continuous loop for listeners to download at their convenience from the Riot Radio site, and to continue pulling top-flight riders and other famous faces into the studio for interviews.
Who tops the future guest wish list? Rapper-cum-actor-cum-motocross racer Vanilla Ice, Bradshaw says. "I understand the guy is mad fast on a dirtbike, plus he's an intelligent guy to boot. He'd make a perfect guest."
Vanilla Ice as an icon of global anarchy? Only on the internet... We just wonder if Bradshaw and crew will coax the famously jiggy white rapper up on the stripper pole. Talk about an internet download with legs!
