Dan Jackson and his freshly painted bike took over as points leader. Pfeiffer started his run with a vengeance and pulled off tricks that other riders couldn't even attempt to duplicate, but the mechanical gremlins again got in the way. After swapping bikes he had a spill, and the moment was not unlike witnessing Buster Douglas knock out Mike Tyson-totally unbelievable. But because of his high score from technical tricks, Pfeiffer was still tied for first for place with Jackson. After deliberation among the judges, each rider was given another three-minute run to determine the winner.
Once again, the Europe versus America battle was set. Pfeiffer held nothing back on his second run, which ultimately proved to be his downfall. Midway through his run he again found the hard pavement, while Jackson wisely chose to hold back slightly and instead put forth a solid and well-executed run. When the smoked cleared and the judges walked back to the scoreboard, it was Jackson who was declared the Stunt Wars 2007 Individual Freestyle champion-a dramatic end to a well-organized event.
Finishing off the weekend was the Team event. Some of the runs ran as well as choreographed dance productions while others looked like disorganized chaos. With only a few minutes of preparation, it was the 5 Men and a Baby team that took home the $5,000 prize.
Stunt Wars 2007 has finally broken the typical stunt-competition mold and established a truly professional and organized sporting event. Thanks to the dedication of key individuals, the freestyle community now has a legitimate event to call home.
