Stunt Wars, the largest stunt event in the world, has been steadily evolving during its eight years since inception. The latest iteration included a venue change from the tiny town of Lakeland to the outskirts of Orlando Speed World in Orlando, Florida. While the track got smaller, the crowds got larger and an estimated 6,000 screaming fans packed the oval.
The excitement kicked off with the Tandem team event, and the Bill Dixon and Destiny duo dominated as expected. The Longest Endo competition followed and was nothing short of amazing. Jesse Toler rolled an astonishing 480 feet, and nearly halfway around the track en route to taking the top spot.
While the Death Squad may have won the Team event, the crowd favorite had to be the antics of the Squid Mafia who brought back the old school tricks of Supermans, skitching and power wheelies.
In almost a repeat from previous years, Hungarian Angyal Zoltan invaded the US shores with an assortment of switchback stuntery to take home the coveted Individual Freestyle title. Recent 2008 XDL Champion Nick Brocha followed a close second with his signature wild-ride, full of seemingly out-of-control tricks. The second place finish didn't quite earn Brocha enough series points and left Bill Dixon as the 2008 Stunt Wars series champ. Dixon finished a close third over the weekend and continued to dominate with technical tricks like no- handed and backwards wheelies.
Stunt Wars continues to be the premiere stunt event and evolves each year with new attractions and entertainment for the crowd. For more information on 2009 events, check outwww.stuntwars.com.
