2008 Yamaha R6
Brian Sexton: Associate Publisher It has been a few months now since coming off of my first season of amateur racing in the CCS (Championship Cup Series). It was a season that any rookie, especially me, could only dream of having. I ended up with a clean sweep, and won all three of my class championships!
As the associate publisher I can let Sonsky and Zamora do the nitty-gritty biz of putting the mag together while I take care of the finances-and that leaves me some free time to spend at the racetrack as they slave away.
For my track weapon this year I chose the 2008 Yamaha R6. Why not? It has been getting great reviews, and I raced a GSX-R1000 last year so it will be a nice change of pace-literally. I think it looks absolutely menacing, so hopefully I can get it to perform similarly.
So I did the usual routine: head down to my local dealership, strike a deal and plop down some hard-earned cash. Before I could say "four-year loan" I was loading up my new toy in the back of the pickup truck. But then it was time for the fun part-race prep.
Over the next several issues I plan to get this baby ready for the track. I know this is a little different than what you're used to seeing in Super Streetbike, but keep in mind, many of these changes can be done to your streetbike too-even if you're not racing. Also, if you're thinking about doing a trackday, the upgrades would be great for that as well.
